#random just because....

Hola again world!

So weekend just passed with me on the couch with a laptop in front of me searching and basically doing my homework on cars, the best deals, models, mileages, year, also what to expect when I visit a dealership. I was doing my homework.

I didn't go anywhere despite the fact that I got invited to places. My cramps were really bad (what's new?). But I didn't want to be bothered by anyone.
I wanted this long weekend to be about me and be at my house.

What I realized is that I'm so over the partying scene and the clubbing a long time ago. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that I'm older and wiser, I know what/where to spend my money plus the body isn't the same anymore- Haaaaa! But I'm serious.
I've been there and done that.
I'm more of a lounge or bar type of person. I'm a grown ass woman lol. Who has time to get it on a dance floor anymore? I still have my moves but I'm done.
Crazy how I was known well still known as the dance machine-I remember them days lol.

But I rather from time to time go to a lounge and enjoy my time with people who'll appreciate my company and not make plans with flakes like I used to-no planning with flakes. I'm smarter.

Anyway, hope you all had an awesome long weekend.
Hope next weekend is better.

Left Turn Driving With Anastasia

Happy hump day everyone!
Hope you all are having a good week.
I am I'm just tired because I've been volunteering with Food Bank For NYC and working. Basically keeping myself busy for the time being.

Ok remember my latest post?.. well not latest but the one I believe before Whitney Houston's? How I'm working one of my goals and how much I'd like to share it with you all but because things never work out for me when I share it so I rather keep it in a hush for now? Yeah that one.

.... so yeah I achieved it and how such a relief and excitement to have finally worked on something, spent money and time-yes I have my license.
I've been back and forth with it, somehow the other schools never helped-I have some personal reasons about those which I've put behind me and moving on.

I finally decided to try again and not given up this time.
I did my search, read reviews and basically did what I had to. So I picked Left Turn Driving School. It's located in Brooklyn. I specifically requested a female instructor (had my reasons).
Well they helped me by given me Anastasia.

Anastasia was very professional, hands-on, helpful (I know it was her job and all but she went beyond the expectations), she made me feel at ease and very comfortable, she was very determined for me to get that license and supportive too. Let's just say she made it somewhat her personal business.

If any of you read my post that lives in Brooklyn or close to/ even wouldn't mind doing the travel who is willing to get their license and get well-prep for it then I suggest this school. I'd also suggest requesting Anastasia.

She's awesome!

Thank you again Anastasia :-)

Goodbye Whitney Houston

"Los Angeles (CNN) -- Legendary pop singer Whitney Houston was found dead Saturday at a Beverly Hills, California, hotel, officials said. She was 48. The entertainer, whose incredible talent was discovered at an early age, was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. (6:55 p.m. ET) at the Beverly Hilton hotel despite resuscitation efforts, a police spokesman said. Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said there were "no obvious signs of criminal intent" and that the cause of her death is being investigated. Houston's bodyguard found her body, said Courtney Barnes, publicist for hip-hop artist Ray J, who was dating the pop diva. According to her official website, Houston sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos. But she also struggled with addiction problems over the years. Houston, whose hits included "The Greatest Love of All," died on the eve of the 54th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. She had performed as late as Thursday night at a pre-Grammy event in the area. A pre-Grammy party was scheduled Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton. Music producer Jimmy Jam, after conversations with those heading up to Sunday's night show, told CNN that he believes the event will change significantly -- including a tribute to the singer. The entertainer recently returned to a movie set for "Sparkle," a remake of the 1976 hit, which was loosely based on the story of The Supremes. It is scheduled be released nationwide in August, according to Sony Pictures. It was her first movie role since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."
News of her death elicited a flood of reaction from fans and fellow celebrities alike. Singer Aretha Franklin said, "I just can't talk about it now. It's so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn't believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen. My heart goes out to Cissy (Houston's mother), her daughter Bobbi Kris, her family and Bobby (Brown)."
Dolly Parton, who wrote "I Will Always Love You," said, "mine is only one of the millions of hearts broken over the death of Whitney Houston. I will always be grateful and in awe of the wonderful performance she did on my song and I can truly say from the bottom of my heart, 'Whitney, I will always love you. You will be missed.'"
Another entertainment legend, Quincy Jones, said he was "absolutely heartbroken" by the news. "She was a true original and a talent beyond compare," he said.
Houston's body of work included a string of Billboard No. 1 hits in the 1980s, including "Saving All My Love for You," "How Will I Know," "The Greatest Love of All," "Where Do Broken Hearts Go," and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)."
Billboard put her soundtrack to the 1992 movie "The Bodyguard" as one of the top 10 biggest-selling albums of all time. She also starred in the film with Kevin Costner. The soundtrack included the hit,"I Will Always Love You."
Whitney Houston was born on August 9, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. Famed music producer Clive Davis reportedly spotted Houston 20 years later in a New York nightclub, signing her on the spot, according to her website. Davis steered Houston's career for more than 25 years, also serving as a mentor.
Just Thursday, Davis told CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" that, with Houston, "I saw a depth and a range and soul ... that rarely ranks at the top level. And that's why we've been working together ever since."
The singer's rendition of the national anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl, days into the first Persian Gulf War, earned raves and cemented her place in the American musical landscape. After "The Bodyguard," Houston went on to appear in several more films in the 1990s, including "Waiting to Exhale."
In 2000, Houston earned her sixth Grammy for best female R&B performance and, a
month later, she was named female artist of the decade at the "Soul Train" Music Awards. Her career stalled, however, in subsequent years as she entered rehab for addiction problems. Houston took a hiatus for several years before releasing her first album in seven years, "I Look to You," in 2009.
"I just took a break, which sometimes you have to," said Houston. "You have to know when to slow that train down and kind of just sit back and relax for a minute."
In May 2011, Houston got help for her much-publicized struggle with drugs and alcohol, her representative said at the time.
In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston recalled how her mother arrived one day at her doorstep at her daughter's house with sheriff's officers and a court order in a drug intervention. She talked about doing cocaine and smoking marijuana.
"(My mother) says, 'I have a court (injunction) here,'" Houston said. "Either you do it my way, or we're just not going to do this at all. We are both going to go on TV, and you're going to retire.'"
Houston had a high-profile and tumultuous marriage to Bobby Brown, a former "New Edition" star who has had multiple brushes with the law. The couple appeared together in the mid-2000s on the reality show "Being Bobby Brown." They had one child together, Bobbi Kristina.
Houston was the cousin of Dionne Warwick, another acclaimed performer. Singer Lionel Richie told CNN that Houston was one of the best. "She had that voice that could just turn a story, a melody into magical notes," Richie said."
I am very sad and not well of the fact that Whitney died.
The first tape I actually watched (remember before dvds?-yeah those) was "The Bodyguard" with Whitney, at that time I was somewhat new to this country lol. I fell in love with the movie.
May you rest in peace Whitney Houston :-)

My few reasons for becoming a vegetarian!

Hello all!
Hope everyone had an awesome January, to some that didn't I'm sure this month will be good for you to make up for January :-)

...did I shared with y'all that I became a vegetarian? If I didn't well I've decided to change my lifestyle a bit.
So today marks me one month of being a vegetarian. I am so proud of myself. Even though it wasn't hard at all, to some that knows me and where I'm from that it should've been but not at all. It was easier than laying off coffee (which would be for a couple of months).
I was never a meat eater like some people who always gotta have meat in their meal. Like I would eat it but I would actually asked for less meat. I used to find it disgusting to order let's say a turkey sub and they piled it with so much meat.
I was a vegetarian for almost a year back in ummm '07 when I was with a vegan. Wheee! That time was somewhat crazy because how I gave it up so easily for the first time ever and kept it for so long.
In some ways who you're with will have somewhat an influence on you/in your life.

****DISCLAIMER****
This post might offend some folks.
They are my reasons, opinions and beliefs-respect them!

My few reasons for becoming a vegetarian-getting to the point now.

*Healthy lifestyle. Not saying the ones that eats meat aren't living a healthy lifestyle but in my opinion not having that substance in your system will be more beneficial than consuming it.You don't need meat to survive-I don't care what anyone says even your doctor!
if you really want a taste of meat and proteins, vitamins and all that in your body there are other great options that you can substitute for/with.

*Weighy- I'm always afraid of gaining weight. Not saying laying off meat is a diet, nope as a matter of fact I don't believe in "dieting" because "diet" never works for anyone, they always ended up eating more shit before their "diet". Yeah get that out of your head!
Buy once I got rid of meat even after a week I see the difference in my body-my weight (I was never overweight but I got slimmer)-my system (bowel movement got better). Even my skin which I find it to be very important because I break out easily (big problem for me).

I feel better. It's just a feeling if lighter and knowing that when I eat I don't have to worry about feeling too full and uncomfortable. The meal meat-free is awesome.
I'm so lucky at the fact that I'm not allergic to seafoods and I love it anyway :-)
I feel great and I know ice made the right decision.
Hello new me.
